Start of Summit’s Ski Season and Snow Report

It’s official…. Ski Season has begun in Summit County, Colorado. Arapahoe Basin and Keystone Ski Resort opened their lifts and are ready for skiers and snowboards to get their first turns in for the 2021-2021 season. When I say lifts, I technically mean 3 lifts, as only one life is open at Arapahoe and two at Keystone. Currently Black Mountain Express Lift is open at Arapahoe Basin and River Run Gondola and Montezuma Express is open at Keystone. Both ski resorts have one trail open.

La Niña conditions have officially developed and are expected to remain in place through the entirety of winter 2021-2022 according to NPR. This weather pattern unfortunately will be bringing a dryer and warmer winter to Colorado. As for me, I am hoping we are wrong about these weather patterns and we have an extraordinary winter full of fresh powder and face shots! Who else agrees?

As for Summit County, we are currently warm and dry, but we are expecting a snowstorm this weekend that will likely bring 5-6 to inches of snow. According to Open Snow, we can expect it to warm up again after this short snow shower.
