It’s hard to believe it, but we are well into the spring season. While it may still feel like winter outside in Colorado, now is the time to freshen up the inside of your home. Not sure where to start? Here are some spring cleaning tasks you can take on this weekend:

Show Your Counters Some Love

Countertops get used every single day, but when was the last time you really cleaned them? Whether you have quartz, granite, marble, or some other surface type, now is the time to give them a good scrub. This article provides a good rundown on how to clean countertops, and it isn’t as difficult as you may think.

Depending on the type of counters you have, you may need to reseal them. Typically, granite needs to be resealed every 1-5 years. 

Sealing your granite will protect it from excess moisture, germs, and dirt.

Get Out The Vacuum

Now is the time to vacuum every nook and cranny of your home. Ideally, this should be done more often than just spring cleaning season – but things happen! We’re talking baseboards, air vents, mattresses, and underneath the couch cushions.

Get Organized

Since it’s still cold outside in Colorado, you could spend the day getting organized. Now would be a great time to look through your closet to see what clothes no longer fit or don’t make you happy anymore. You can donate them to a local non-profit, so they don’t go to waste.

It is also a good time to clean out your kitchen and pantry. You can donate old tablecloths, place settings, and dishware that is no longer being used. You can also look through your canned foods and spices to see if anything has expired. While you’re there, you can organize your spices, dishes, and whatever else you store in your pantry. This will clear up space and make finding your items much more accessible.

Get Outside 

Once the last frost has passed, it’s essential to clean the gutters. Failing to do so could lead to damage and rot. 

If your eaves rot – your attic could become overrun with critters, and nobody wants that!

Spring is also a good time to inspect your deck if you have one. You’ll want to get this done now so that you can enjoy the area once the temperatures warm up. Make sure the railing is still sturdy to prevent any accidents, and if the wood is looking a little rough, it may be a good idea to reseal the deck.   

Be Prepared

Spring cleaning may not be the most thing, but your house will thank you for it. Keeping a house clean and well maintained will lead to a higher listing price when the time comes to sell your home.
